Percolation CA

(If the demo doesn't seem to work properly, try using a different web browser.)

  1. Set the patch density and initialize.
  2. Click ON/OFF. (When the button is darkened, the demo is on.)
  3. Click on any yellow patch in the space, and hold the mouse button down.

In what range of patch densities are you likely to see aggregate patches that span the entire space?

If you set the program to use Von Neumann neighborhoods, then a patch can only be connected to its north, south, east, and west neighbors. Otherwise, patches' neighbors can be north, south, east, west, northeast, northwest, southeast, or southwest.

How does the neighborhood definition affect what density range gives spanning aggregate patches? How does the presence or absence of the wraparound feature?
